Stumpage, LLC runs Stumpage. This page is written to be read; if anything here is unclear, write to hello@stumpage.net and ask.

What Stumpage collects

Only what running the record needs:

• Your name and email address, given when you ask for access. The address is how you sign in and how Stumpage writes to you.
• A hash of your password — never the password itself. Nobody at Stumpage can read it, and it cannot be turned back into what you typed.
• Your sign-in sessions: which devices are signed in, and when. This is what enforces the two-device limit in the terms.
• A count of requests per day, per account. A number, not a list of what you looked at.
• Your alert watches — the DNR offices and species you asked to hear about, and the cadence.
• Your saved workspaces and buying territories: the names, public-record links, geographic selections and notes you choose to save. These are attached to your account and are not shared with other subscribers.
• Contributed sales, if you are a contributor: the sale figures you enter, and the credential you gave on your application.

Card and bank details are entered directly in Stripe and are not stored by Stumpage. Stripe processes payments, annual renewals, receipts and billing management under its own privacy terms. Stumpage stores the customer and subscription identifiers, paid amount and access period, renewal status, and your agreement to recurring billing.

Why, and how long it is kept

Saved workspaces keep your research available when you return. Deleting a workspace removes its saved views and notes; closing your account removes all of your workspaces.

Your name, address, password hash, sign-in sessions, request counts and alert watches exist to run your account, and are kept for as long as the account is open.

Closing the account removes your name, your email address, your password and your alert watches, and ends every sign-in session — the sessions themselves stay as a dated record that they were ended. The per-day request counts stay too, as numbers on an account with no name attached to it; they say how much the record was read, never what was read.

Payment and billing-notification records, including the billing email address and provider receipt identifiers, are retained separately for payment history, accounting and resolving payment questions. Closing your account stops future subscription charges; it does not erase completed payment records held by Stumpage or Stripe.

Contributed sale records are retained after account closure under the licence described in the terms of service. They are no longer associated with your name. The credential from an application is kept while the account is open, as the basis for the decision.

Who sees it

The owner of Stumpage, LLC uses account and individual submission details to operate and review the service. Hosting and email providers process the information needed to provide those services. Stumpage does not sell or rent your information or use it for advertising. Optional third-party analytics is not active in this version of Stumpage.

With a separate publication agreement for each sale, subscribers may see regional private-sale results, including a result based on one sale. The sale count and pricing basis are shown. Contributor names, property addresses and precise locations are not published. Broad geography does not guarantee anonymity: someone with outside knowledge may recognize a transaction. Earlier submissions stay out of these results unless the contributor explicitly opts in. The regional publication agreement is explained in the dictionary.

Analytics

Optional Google Analytics is off in this version of Stumpage. No analytics script loads and no analytics cookie is set. If enabled in a future version, it will stay off until you choose to allow it. Ordinary server requests still provide the pages and account services you use.

Email

New contributed sales are queued for an operational email to the owner, including the contributor’s contact details and the saved sale lines. These details are never published as individual sales. The queued copy is removed after the mail provider accepts it, or if the sale is removed or the account closes before dispatch. A correction can arrive after the original submission was queued; the owner checks the current record during review. Copies already sent to the owner’s mailbox are handled separately when you request removal.

Stumpage sends mail through Postmark, which delivers the message and keeps a delivery record. The mail Stumpage sends is about your account — sign-in and password links, the quarterly letter and the digests you asked for, and answers to what you write in. There is no marketing list to leave.

Removing your data

You can close your account from your account page. If you cannot reach that page or need help closing the account, write to hello@stumpage.net. Closing it removes your name, your email address, your password and your alert watches, ends every sign-in session, and ends your access at once. Sales you contributed stay on the record without your name, under the licence in the terms.
