The MI DNR stumpage price report for April to June 2021 is out: 481 price lines across 15 of 80 management units and 25 species.
The Michigan Timber Index for sawtimber moved up this quarter; pulpwood moved up.
Up statewide: mixed aspen, beech, mixed oak sawtimber. Down: paper birch, yellow birch, white pine.
Up statewide: mixed oak, basswood, mixed spruce pulpwood. Down: paper birch, balsam fir, jack pine.
Of the 135 state sales opened this quarter, 127 sold and 8 drew no bid — 6% — with 3.8 bidders on a sold sale on average.
The previous quarter (Jan–Mar 2021) opened 121 sales, 14 no-bid — 12%; the same quarter a year earlier (Apr–Jun 2020) opened 133, 11 no-bid — 8%.
