The MI DNR stumpage price report for April to June 2017 is out: 537 price lines across 15 of 80 management units and 27 species.
The Michigan Timber Index for sawtimber has a reading this quarter but none for the quarter before, so no direction; pulpwood held steady.
Up statewide: white pine, mixed oak, red oak sawtimber. Down: sugar maple, mixed aspen, red pine.

Of the 223 state sales opened this quarter, 191 sold, 7 carried no result on the DNR’s bid summary and 25 drew no bid — 11% — with 2.9 bidders on a sold sale on average.
The previous quarter (Jan–Mar 2017) opened 171 sales, 35 no-bid — 20%; the same quarter a year earlier (Apr–Jun 2016) opened 148, 19 no-bid — 13%.
