The MI DNR stumpage price report for April to June 2015 is out: 433 price lines across 16 of 80 management units and 24 species.
The Michigan Timber Index for sawtimber has no reading for this quarter; pulpwood moved down.
Up statewide: mixed oak, red oak, red maple sawtimber. Down: sugar maple, mixed aspen, red pine.
Up statewide: mixed oak, bigtooth aspen, mixed hardwood pulpwood. Down: balsam fir, mixed softwood, red oak.
Of the 174 state sales opened this quarter, 161 sold and 13 drew no bid — 7% — with 4.2 bidders on a sold sale on average.
The previous quarter (Jan–Mar 2015) opened 207 sales, 13 no-bid — 6%; the same quarter a year earlier (Apr–Jun 2014) opened 232, 26 no-bid — 11%.
