The MI DNR stumpage price report for January to March 2015 is out: 398 price lines across 16 of 80 management units and 26 species.

The Michigan Timber Index for sawtimber has no reading for this quarter; pulpwood moved up.

Up statewide: red pine, red maple, red oak sawtimber. Down: mixed oak.

Up statewide: mixed aspen, red maple, red pine pulpwood.

Of the 207 state sales opened this quarter, 194 sold and 13 drew no bid — 6% — with 4.4 bidders on a sold sale on average.

The previous quarter (Oct–Dec 2014) opened 98 sales, 12 no-bid — 12%; the same quarter a year earlier (Jan–Mar 2014) opened 169, 23 no-bid — 14%.
