The MI DNR stumpage price report for April to June 2014 is out: 511 price lines across 17 of 80 management units and 25 species.
The Michigan Timber Index for sawtimber has no reading for this quarter; pulpwood moved up.
Up statewide: basswood, mixed aspen, mixed hardwood sawtimber. Down: mixed oak, white ash, red oak.
Up statewide: mixed softwood, quaking aspen, white pine pulpwood. Down: beech, mixed oak.
Of the 232 state sales opened this quarter, 206 sold and 26 drew no bid — 11% — with 4.0 bidders on a sold sale on average.
The previous quarter (Jan–Mar 2014) opened 169 sales, 23 no-bid — 14%; the same quarter a year earlier (Apr–Jun 2013) opened 226, 22 no-bid — 10%.
