The MI DNR stumpage price report for April to June 2013 is out: 501 price lines across 17 of 80 management units and 28 species.
The Michigan Timber Index for sawtimber has no reading for this quarter; pulpwood held steady.
Up statewide: mixed oak, basswood, red maple sawtimber. Down: red oak.
Up statewide: mixed hardwood pulpwood. Down: white pine, mixed softwood, paper birch.
Of the 226 state sales opened this quarter, 204 sold and 22 drew no bid — 10% — with 3.3 bidders on a sold sale on average.
The previous quarter (Jan–Mar 2013) opened 166 sales, 18 no-bid — 11%; the same quarter a year earlier (Apr–Jun 2012) opened 219, 9 no-bid — 4%.
