April to June 2007

A quarterly summary of timber-price trends, reporting coverage and state timber-sale activity. Detailed prices and calculations are available to subscribers.

The MI DNR stumpage price report for April to June 2007 is out: 366 price lines across 16 of 80 management units and 25 species.

The Michigan Timber Index for sawtimber has no reading for this quarter; pulpwood moved down.

There is no quarter a year earlier on the record to compare with, so nothing is listed as moved.

Of the 290 state sales opened this quarter, 204 sold, 10 carried no result on the DNR’s bid summary and 76 drew no bid — 26% — with 3.2 bidders on a sold sale on average.

The previous quarter (Jan–Mar 2007) opened 171 sales, 46 no-bid — 27%; the same quarter a year earlier (Apr–Jun 2006) opened 177, 20 no-bid — 11%.

The figures behind every line — every price, every receipt — are in the record at stumpage.net.
